Ghosts in Dakar

Ghosts in Dakar is a reflection of my emotions while on a 3 week trip to Senegal. I felt just as out of place and singled out as I do here in the United states. I felt like a ghost, something everyone was in disbelief to see; a commodity. Additionally, this trip was inspiring me to face my own ghosts of my past, reconnecting with Allah and myself, seeking and finding the internal connection I thought I had lost.

From loosing children to the war for independence to being separated from their families for decades at a time. Being part of the Eritrean diaspora, I wanted to pay homage to out mothers grief.
